In February 2019, the NSW Government awarded a contract to Momentum Trains to deliver the Regional Rail Project.
Momentum Trains is an international consortium comprising CAF, UGL Rail Services, Pacific Partnerships, CAF Investment Projects and DIF Infrastructure V Coöperatief.
Momentum Trains will design, build, finance and maintain the new regional rail fleet and the new purpose-built Mindyarra Maintenance Centre in Dubbo, with the full fleet coming into service progressively.
Momentum Trains is working with the NSW Government to replace the ageing NSW regional rail fleet of XPT, XPLORER and Endeavour trains, which are up to 37 years old. The new trains will improve safety, amenities, accessibility and reliability for customers who travel from Sydney to many regional centres in NSW, as well as Canberra, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Momentum Trains and its consortium partners (CAF, UGL and CPB Contractors) are committed to providing opportunities for regional NSW businesses, Aboriginal Businesses, Social Enterprises and Australian Disability Enterprise to participate in the Regional Rail supply chain wherever possible.
Expression of Interest procurement opportunities for businesses and suppliers are advertised by each Momentum Trains Consortium Partner (CAF, UGL and CPB) using the Industry Capability Network (ICN) Gateway. We encourage any business interested in opportunities on the Regional Rail Project, for either the construction of the Dubbo Maintenance Facility (CPB Contractors), train completion work (CAF) or maintenance phase (UGL) to register with the Industry Capability Network (ICN) and access available Expressions of Interest (EOI).
Momentum Trains is committed to maximising employment opportunities on the Regional Rail Project in regional New South Wales, both directly and through its subcontractors and supply chain. A range of skills will be required throughout construction, train completion work and maintenance phases.
